Было прочитано моного статей, в том числе и статья на nixp.ru, благодаря чему сумел настроить жпрс соединение на редхат.

В редхат модем(сотка мотор л7) определялся как /dev/ttyACM0

Сейчас стоит Mandriva 2006 free (мне нравиться=)) никак не могу настроить мотор как модем, он определяеться либо как съемный диск либо никак=(
